BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Baseball is set to open its season with a three-game series against Dayton beginning at 3 p.m. CT on Friday, Feb. 17 at Nick Denes Field.

THE SCHEDULE
• The Hilltoppers will open their series on Friday, Feb. 17 with a 3 p.m. CT matchup against Dayton.
• WKU will then play the Flyers at 3 p.m. CT on Saturday, Feb. 18.
• The Hilltoppers will close out their series against Dayton on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. CT.

PRESEASON PRESTIGE
• Tristin Garcia was voted to the Preseason All-Conference USA Team on Thursday, Feb. 2.
• In 2022, Garcia produced a .323/.267/.455 slash line while starting at second base in every game for the Hilltoppers. He also racked up a team-high 71 hits, 19 doubles, and 100 total bases. His 220 at-bats lead the team as well, while he was tied for the team-high in runs with 39.

SERIES HISTORY
• WKU and Dayton have met just 7 times in program history, with the Hilltoppers owning a 5-2 all-time series edge.
• The teams last met on March 7, 2004, with the Hilltopers recording an 16-6 victory in the contest.
• Prior to their most recent matchup, the Hilltoppers had compiled a three-game winning streak against Dayton.

SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
• WKU went 18-36 (7-23 C-USA) during the 2022 season, giving them the twelfth seed Conference USA.
• The Hilltoppers are set to return 14 players from a season ago while welcoming 21 newcomers to the team in the form of 10 freshmen and 11 transfers.
• Offensively, WKU will return six players who accounted for more than half of their hitting production last season in Tristin Garcia (71), Ty Batusich (53), Ty Crittenberger (39), Aidan Gilroy (49), Andrew Delaney (39), and Matthew Meyer (34).
• On the mound, the Hilltoppers will welcome back leading starter Devyn Terbrak along with relievers Lane Diuguid and Dalton Mesaris bringing veteran experience on the bump.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
• Dayton compiled an 23-27 overall record in 2022, including a 10-14 mark in Atlantic 10 play.
• The Flyers are set to return two starting position players and one starting pitcher from last season's roster, while adding 22 newcomers to the squad.
• As a team, Dayton compiled a .247 batting average offensively while scoring 5.6 runs per game.
• On the mound, the Flyers recorded a 5.23 ERA while striking out 432 batters in 434.0 innings of work.
