HUNTINGTON, W. VA. — WKU Hilltopper Basketball will play a home-and-home series with rival Marshall to end the regular season, starting in Huntington at 6 p.m. CT Wednesday. The game will air nationally on ESPNU.

The Hilltoppers had their seven-game win streak snapped Saturday at Middle Tennessee, but are looking to secure the No. 2 seed in the East Division and a bye to the C-USA Quarterfinals this week. Marshall most recently lost 74-65 at Middle Tennessee on Thursday.

WKU is 20-12 all-time against the Thundering Herd. Head coach Rick Stansbury is 7-4 in his career against Marshall.

• WKU could clinch the No. 2 seed in the C-USA East Division and a tourney bye with a win Wednesday and a Florida Atlantic loss at FIU on Thursday. WKU can also clinch the bye with a sweep of Marshall this week.

• As of Monday, WKU leads the country in fewest fouls per game (11.6) and ranks fifth in total blocks (170), eighth in blocks per game (5.9), 41st in field-goal percentage (47%), 35th in total steals (238) and 38th in steals per game (8.2).

• In January, junior center Jamarion Sharp was named to the watch list for the Naismith Men's National Defensive Player of the Year. This is the second straight year WKU has put a player on the list, with Charles Bassey making the semifinals for the award last season. WKU is one of just four schools – along with Baylor, Tennessee and Richmond – to have a player on the watch list the last two seasons.

• Jamarion Sharp is the tallest player in college basketball at 7 feet, 5 inches. He's also the tallest player in the history of the Hilltopper program. As of Monday, Sharp led the nation in total dunks (78) and ranks second in total blocks (130), blocks per game (4.5) and block percentage (17.4%).

• Sharp has more blocks himself this season (130) than 311 Division I programs have as a team, which is 89% of all D-I teams. He also holds the WKU record for most blocks in a season.

• Sophomore guard Dayvion McKnight is one of three players in the country averaging at least 15 points, five rebounds, five assists and one steal per game this year. He ranks eighth nationally in total assists (168) and 14th in assists per game (5.8).

WKU rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit to secure a 69-67 win at Marshall, completing its first series sweep in league play after two opening splits.
Â
Junior center Charles Bassey led the way with 24 points, nine rebounds and two blocks, and redshirt senior forward Carson Williams had a breakout game with 16 points and three made 3-pointers.

The Hilltoppers shot 45.5% from the field and made 7 of 11 3-pointers, while holding Marshall to 37.1% overall and just 24.2% from behind the arc.
