BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – For the sixth straight year, WKU will play in the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate to start its spring season. The Hilltoppers will start play in Mobile, Ala., on Monday at the par-72, 7,212-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course.

The field is one of the toughest the Hilltoppers have seen to date, featuring 14 teams including No. 20 Illinois, No. 28 Kent State, No. 49 UAB, No. 55 Florida State, No. 68 Memphis, No. 77 Southern Miss, No. 81 Kansas State, No. 85 Toledo, No. 95 South Alabama, Louisiana, Davidson, Miami (OH), Texas State, and WKU.
Five Hilltoppers will travel to Alabama to compete in WKU's lineup. Freshman Riley Grindstaff will continue his role in the leading spot for the Red and White and junior Luke Fuller will follow at the No. 2. After a solid fall ending, fifth-year Caleb O'Toole earned the third spot in the lineup while sophomore Connery Meyer is in the fourth. Sophomore Aaron Pha will round out the five-man card.
Select WKU golfers played in the Thomas Sharkey Individual a week ago to prepare for the spring and serve as a qualifying event for Mobile Bay. Meyer led the squad at the event, finishing t-27th as an individual and earning the fourth spot in this week's lineup.
WKU is coming off of one its strongest falls in recent years, with three men currently averaging sub-74. Grindstaff (72.2), O'Toole (73.0) and Fuller (73.7) have consistently led the team and look to carry that momentum into the spring season.
