SAVANNAH, Ga. – Lady Topper Golf is within striking distance of the leaders, both individually and as a team, at The Southern at the par-72, 6,036-yard Savannah Golf Club, America's oldest golf course.
From the five-spot in the lineup, freshman Sydney Hackett posted a 1-under 71 and is just two shots back from the individual lead. She logged five birdies across the round, including two in her final three holes, and is in third place.
As a team, WKU shot 8-over 296 and is tied for second place with Georgia Southern. Yale posted a 3-over on the day and holds the team lead.
Senior Sarah Arnold carded a 2-over 74 and is currently tied for seventh while fifth-year senior Kenlie Barrett is behind her in t-13th with a 3-over 75.
The final score of the day for the Lady Toppers was shot by freshman Averi Cline. She turned in a 4-over 76 and is tied for 20th. WKU junior Rachel Rich shot 10-over 82 and is sitting in 48th.
Junior Addie Westbrook is seeing a lot of success on the course competing as an individual. She is tied for fifth after posting a 1-over 73 on Monday morning. Sophomore Catie Craig is tied for 42nd as she shot an 8-over 80.
WKU will tee off for the second round on Tuesday morning beginning at 8:20 a.m. CT.
