BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Men's Golf heads to Choudrant, La., to start its season at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate. The three-day tournament is scheduled to run Sunday through Tuesday, with teams playing 18 holes each day.

The Hilltoppers will return to the par-72, 7,105-yard Squire Creek Country Club to open the 2021-22 year. WKU opened at the same event in 2020 and finished 10th in the field as a team.
Five golfers will make the trip down to Louisiana to play in the Intercollegiate. Starting in the leadoff spot for WKU is junior Luke Fuller. He has the best season average from 2020-21 returning to the team. Fifth year Jack Poole will be in the No. 2 spot for the Hilltoppers.
Three freshmen will fill in the final three spots in the lineup. Stephen Warren, Riley Grindstaff and Elliott Pope will all begin their collegiate golf careers in Chodrant as No. 3, 4 and 5, respectively.
Between Poole, Warren and Pope, head coach Chan Metts is starting three lefties in the season-opening lineup.
The intercollegiate features 20 total teams. There are seven teams in the field inside Golfstat's Top 100 from the 2020-21 season including No. 32 LSU, No. 43 Little Rock, No. 61 Houston, No. 62 UTSA, No. 86 ULM, No. 90 Middle Tennessee and No. 99 Louisiana, as well as individuals from No. 22 Tennessee.
WKU will also be stacking up against four Conference USA opponents in Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, UTSA and Southern Miss.
