Mosley will kick off action for the Hilltoppers as he runs two races on Wednesday evening. His first will be the 400-meter in which he is seeded 22nd overall. When he ran back-to-back PR days in the event at the Conference USA Championships and earned a bronze medal, he moved from the mid-60s in the event times to 26th in the region. That race will be run at 6:25 p.m. CT.
The graduate senior will follow it up with the 200-meter dash at 7:45 p.m. CT. He also had back-to-back PR days in the shorter race at the C-USA Championships. He finished fourth in the event which was good for 61st in the region. With scratches and non-declares, he will be seeded 45th come Wednesday evening.
If he advances as one of the top three in his heat or one of the next six fastest times, he will run in the national quarterfinals on Friday evening in Jacksonville.
After being 51st in the East Region following the C-USA Championships, Williams was able to move off the bubble of entry and will run in the 200 on Thursday at 7:45 p.m. CT. She is seeded 31st in the event overall.
Williams has the same parameters for advancing as Mosley does and she would run again on Saturday in the national quarterfinals.
The East Region is notoriously difficult for advancing out of in sprinting events. The last time WKU traveled to the preliminary competition was in 2019, when the Hilltoppers took 15 competitors to the event. WKU went on to have student-athletes compete at the NCAA National Championships in the 4x400-meter relay, 4x100-meter relay and women's long jump.
This is the first NCAA Track & Field Regionals trip for Director of Cross Country/Track & Field Brent Chumbley and staff.
