Hilltoppers Close Fall Slate in Chattanooga

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Men's Golf will close its fall schedule in east Tennessee at the Battle at Black Creek hosted by Chattanooga. The inaugural event features 96 players and 17 teams in total.

This will be WKU's first trip to Chattanooga and the par-72, 7,060-yard Black Creek Club. The Hilltoppers most recently finished eighth at the Pinetree Intercollegiate just six days ago. The Battle is WKU's fifth and final event of the fall slate.

Freshman Riley Grindstaff will be in the top spot for the Hilltoppers after tying for sixth at the Pinetree Intercollegiate. The Franklin, Tenn., native currently holds a season stroke average of 72.3 through 12 competitive rounds of golf.

Fellow freshman Stephen Warren earned his first top-25 finish in WKU's last time out and has subsequently earned the No. 2 spot in the lineup. He's averaging 74.7 strokes per round this season. Junior Luke Fuller is between the duo at 73.5 shots and will be playing as the three-guy for WKU.

Rounding out the lineup is fifth-year senior Caleb O'Toole and freshman Elliott Pope. O'Toole is getting his first start of the season while this will be Pope's second start in the lineup and fourth overall.

The teams are scheduled to play 36 holes continuously on Monday, beginning in a shotgun format. The final round will be played on Tuesday with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. CT off both No. 1 and 10.
