Hilltoppers Stay on Road for Tuesday Trip to Wright State

DAYTON, Ohio — WKU Hilltopper Basketball will play its fifth straight game away from home at Wright State at 6 p.m. CT Tuesday in Dayton, Ohio. The game will stream online on ESPN+.

The Hilltoppers most recently fell to then-No. 2 Louisville 71-54 on Friday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Wright State, the overwhelming preseason Horizon League favorite, most recently won 71-66 at Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday. The Hilltoppers are 1-0 all-time against Wright State, winning 78-60 in Bowling Green in 2017. WKU head coach Rick Stansbury is 2-0 all-time in his career against the Raiders.

• WKU is trying for its best start through nine games since the 2012-13 season. The Hilltoppers' six wins are their most in the month of November since also compiling six in the 2006-07 season.

• This is the fifth straight game away from Diddle Arena for WKU after three games in the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands and the Nashville game against Louisville. The Hilltoppers play 6 of 7 regular-season games away from home overall from Nov. 23 through the Dec. 21 game at Rhode Island.

• As of Monday, WKU ranked 10th in the country in field-goal percentage (50.8), 10th in free-throw percentage (79.7), 11th in free throws made (145), 34th in total blocks (39), 36th in free-throw attempts (182) and 49th in scoring offense (80.3 ppg)

• WKU has made 43 more free throws (145) than its opponents have even attempted (102) through eight games. In the last three games, WKU has made a combined 48 of 55 free throws (87.3 percent), including 38 of 41 (92.7 percent) in the second half.

• WKU sophomore center Charles Bassey has 124 points, 77 rebounds, 12 blocks and eight steals this season. As of Monday, he was 1 of 2 players in the nation with at least those numbers.

• WKU has shot at least 50 percent from the field in 5 of 8 games this season. The Hilltoppers shot 50 percent or better from the floor in just nine total games all last season.

LAST GAME AGAINST WRIGHT STATE: DECEMBER 2, 2017

WKU used its typical balanced production to notch its fourth straight victory with a 78-60 win over Wright State at E.A. Diddle Arena.

The Hilltoppers had five players in double figures, led by 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists from senior guard Darius Thompson.

Redshirt junior guard Lamonte Bearden scored 15 points with four assists, while senior forward Justin Johnson added 13 points and 12 rebounds for his 27th career double-double.
