BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Hilltopper Golf will face stiff competition in its final regular-season tournament, teeing off in a strong field at Purdue's Boilermaker Invitational this weekend.
WKU will be one of 17 programs competing Saturday and Sunday at the par-72, 7,465-yard Kampen Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ind.
The tournament features nine teams ranked in the GolfStat Top 100, including six in the top 75 and three in the top 40.
The first two rounds will take place Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. CT with a shotgun start, with the final round to follow Sunday.
The Hilltoppers are in the midst of a busy stretch to wind down the season, having just tied for fifth as a team Tuesday at Lipscomb's Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate in Nashville, Tenn.
WKU finished two strokes out of third place in the event and was within three shots of eventual team champion Rice through 11 holes on the final day.
Junior Stuart Easton led the Hilltoppers with a sixth-place finish, while redshirt junior Billy Tom Sargent and redshirt sophomore Linus Lo also placed in the top 20 individually.
Those three will be joined once again at Purdue by sophomore Tom Bevington and freshman Crimson Callahan.
This is the final event before WKU competes in the Conference USA Championship on April 22-25 in Texarkana, Ark.
