BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU men's basketball head coach Rick Stansbury announced Saturday the addition of graduate transfer Dwight Coleby (6-9, Forward) to the Hilltopper program.
Coleby, a Nassau, Bahamas, native, will add a wealth of experience from his time at Kansas and Ole Miss to the WKU frontcourt for his final season. He will be eligible to compete immediately after graduating and transferring from the Jayhawk program.
"As we continue to look to add veteran leadership, we're very excited to have Dwight join our program and family," Stansbury said. "He brings invaluable experience to our frontcourt where it is much-needed following his two years at Ole Miss and his year playing at Kansas."
Coleby averaged 1.7 points and 1.8 rebounds in 24 games for Kansas during the 2016-17 season, but he began to round into form at the end of the year after coming off a knee injury the season before.
The 2017 Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection tied a career high with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting against Texas on Feb. 25 and tallied a season-high six rebounds in a victory over Baylor on Feb. 1.
Coleby sat out the 2015-16 season after transferring from Ole Miss, where he played his first two seasons.
He appeared in all 34 games as a sophomore for the Rebels with three starts, averaging 5.4 points and 4.8 rebounds in 16.5 minutes per game. Coleby shot 53.2 percent from the floor and 79.7 percent from the free-throw line, ranking second on the team in field goal percentage and blocks and third in rebounding.
His efforts included an 11-point, nine-rebound, three-block performance at Florida and his first career double-double (12 points, 10 boards) at No. 19 Arkansas. Coleby averaged 2.4 points and 1.9 rebounds in his first season at Ole Miss, starting four contests.
He's competed in the NCAA Tournament twice, including Kansas' run to the Elite Eight in 2016-17 with a 31-5 record. Ole Miss also won a tournament game during his sophomore season in 2014-15.
Coleby averaged 20 points, 15 rebounds, five blocks and three assists as a high school senior at The Piney Woods (Miss.) School. He was rated the No. 2 overall player in Mississippi by ESPN100.
Coleby will have the opportunity to return to and play in his hometown of Nassau, Bahamas, this year as the Hilltoppers spend nearly a week in the city to compete in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in November.
