MIAMI, Fla.-- The WKU softball team (27-7, 12-2) secured its fifth Conference USA series this season after sweeping FIU (26-22, 7-13) in shutout fashion on Saturday, taking game one 11-0 in five innings and game two by a score of 6-0.
For the doubleheader, Larissa Franklin and Carleigh Chaumont had four hits each while Brooke Holloway led the team with a .600 batting average, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored. As a team, WKU hit .383 with 17 runs scored on 13 hits.
Miranda Kramer (18-4) and Janna Scheff (4-2) took the wins while Hannah Parker earned her second save of the season. In 12 innings pitched, WKU's staff allowed seven hits while striking out 10. Kramer moved her season numbers to a 0.88 ERA with 277 total strikeouts.

GAME ONE--WKU 11, FIU 0 (5 inn.)
With Kramer throwing a one-hitter and the offense knocking down 14 hits, WKU cruised to an 11-0, run-rule win in game one at FIU.
Six Lady Toppers had two hits apiece, highlighted by Dani Pugh hitting her third grand slam of the season. The senior finished with five RBI while Chaumont posted two RBI.
Kramer threw her third one-hit complete game of the season, striking out six and allowing a walk in 18 batters faced. The Panthers didn't record their only hit of the contest until one out in the final frame.
Franklin opened the game with a bunt single before scoring on a Chaumont hit to give WKU a 1-0 lead after one. With two singles and a walk to load the bases with one out, Pugh came to the plate to blast her ninth home run of the season and put the Lady Tops ahead 5-0 after two played.
WKU capitalized on four hits and an error in the third to make it 9-0, as three runs came in on the miscue in Franklin's at-bat. Franklin came across home plate in the next play, as Kayti Hanson put a hit up the middle. After not scoring in the fourth, WKU made it 11-0 in the fifth after RBI hits from Pugh and Chaumont.
GAME TWO--WKU 6, FIU 0
The WKU offense stayed clicking in the day's latter game, putting nine hits and three FIU errors toward a 6-0 win.
The Lady Toppers put up three runs in the third and three runs in the fifth, as Lexie Norfleet opened the scoring with a RBI double to right center. With two outs in the third, Holloway and Franklin posted back-to-back hits that brought in one run each. In the fifth, FIU committed two-consecutive errors to let Preslie Cruce and Chaumont stand in scoring position. Shawna Sadler followed with a double to score both runners before crossing home plate on a Holloway single to center.
Scheff and Parker held FIU scoreless, as Scheff earned the win after going the first four frames with four hits, two walks and two strikeouts. Parker entered in the fifth to complete the game, giving up two hits and a walk while striking out two.
