BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Two Lady Topper swimmers punched their tickets to the NCAA Swimming Championships later this month, as Nadine Laemmler and Susan Marquess posted the times at the University of Georgia's Bulldog Invitational Last Chance Meet over the weekend in Athens, Ga.
It will be a first-time trip to the NCAA event for both Lady Toppers, as the competition takes place in Greensboro, N.C., from March 19-21. The pair join Fabian Schwingenschlogl, who earned All-America status at last year's NCAA Championship, as WKU representatives to the NCAAs. The men's NCAA Championship takes place March 26-28 in Iowa City, Iowa.
Laemmler and Marquess set new school records in the process. Laemmler lowered her record in the 200 back with a 1:53.9 while Marquess knocked down Olympic gold medalist Claire Donahue from the 200 fly after going 1:55.7.
Laemmler and Marquess along with Claire Conlon and Michelle Craddock also posted a school record in the 400 medley relay, setting the new time at 3:36.57.
