BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- The 97th season of WKU Hilltopper Basketball begins Saturday at 7:00 PM (CT), as the Hilltoppers host Campbellsville (Ky.) as part of the 2015 Gulf Coast Showcase.
WKU played two exhibition games last week and won both, serving as a preseason tune-up for the Hilltoppers' second season in Conference USA in 2015-16. In the exhibition games, Chris Harrison-Docks led WKU in scoring at 18.0 points per game, and Ben Lawson, Chris McNeal and Nigel Snipes all averaged 5.5 rebounds per outing. As a team, WKU shot 49.5 percent from the field in the two victories.
The game on Saturday is an on-campus game as part of the Gulf Coast Showcase, which also includes three games in Estero, Fla., Thanksgiving week, beginning with a matchup with Drake on Nov. 23.
WKU leads the all-time series against Campbellsville 4-0, with the most recent regular-season matchup being a 62-48 WKU win in Bowling Green on Nov., 18, 2008.
Saturday's game is an exhibition contest for the Tigers, who are 4-0 to start the 2015-16 season and play in the Mid-South Conference in the NAIA, which is the same conference as WKU's first exhibition opponent, Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College. The Tigers reached the Sweet 16 of the NAIA National Championships in 2015 after winning the MSC, and head coach Keith Adkins was named the NAIA National Coach of the Year last season.
After Saturday, WKU hits the road to face Belmont on Wednesday at 6:00 PM (CT).
