IRVING, Texas - For the third time this season, a WKU swimmer takes home Conference USA Swimmer of the Week honors, as junior Michelle Craddock earns her first weekly recognition in her career, the league announced Tuesday.
Craddock helped WKU defeat Cincinnati and the University of the Cumberlands over the weekend with two individual victories and a relay win. In the triumph over the Bearcats, Craddock set a new pool record in the 100 free at 50.82, a mark held since 2001 by WKU Athletic Hall of Fame member Brandi Caery. The Jacksonville, Fla., native then produced an amazing split time of 22.65 as a member of the 200 free relay squad that finished first and recorded a pool-record time of 1:33.76. She also finished second in the 200 free with a time of 1:50.24
Against the Lady Patriots, Craddock took home the title in the 500 free with a time of 4:56.75 while coming in just .04 second off the leader in the 50 free at 23.93.
The women's squad has one final meet before heading to the C-USA Championships in Knoxville, as the Lady Toppers face league-foe Marshall in Huntington, W.Va., on Saturday, Jan. 31.
