BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- The WKU women's tennis team will travel to Knoxville, Tenn. on Saturday. They take on the No. 33 ranked Lady Vols at 9:00 am CT at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
"We are excited to play Tennessee, but we know it will be a tough challenge," said head coach Jonatan Berhane. "We are ready to compete."
The Lady Tops return to action after the fall season that saw a 25-24 singles and 12-12 doubles overall record. The fall campaign was led by freshmen duo Andreanna Christopoulou and Emilia Granstrom. Christopoulou posted identical 6-3 records in both singles and doubles. Granstrom went 7-4 in singles and 6-3 in doubles throughout the fall. Fellow freshmen Elpida Malamou also posted 4-2 records in singles and doubles.
Senior Maddy Phillips went 2-3 in singles and 2-2 doubles. Fellow veteran Gabby Crofford went 3-3 in singles and 2-4 in doubles. Tereza Hejlova played through injuries during the fall while posting a 1-5 singles and 4-3 doubles record. Cassie Pennington went 1-1 in singles and 0-2 in doubles. Emily Przystawski went 1-3 in singles and 0-5 in doubles.
Tennessee was ranked No. 33 in the January 20, 2015 ITA college rankings and feature the 29th ITA ranked doubles duo of Joanna Henderson and Caitlyn Williams.
