- WKU starts the season 1-0 while Bowling Green falls to 0-1
- The Hilltoppers have now won three-straight home openers and 17 of their last 21

- Senior quarterback Brandon Doughty set WKU records with 46 completions, 569 passing yards and six touchdown passes
- Doughty's six touchdown passes were the most in school history and tied a Conference USA record
- Doughty finished the game 46-of-56 and recorded the first 500-yard passing performance in school history
- Doughty broke Jeff Cesarone's 29-year old school record of 494 passing yards against Akron on Oct. 5, 1985
- Doughty's 569 yards passing were the third-most in C-USA history and 23 shy of the league record. His 46 completions rank fourth in conference history.
- Doughty's 46 completions marked the eighth time in his career he surpassed the 20-completion mark in a game
- Doughty completed 82.1 percent of his passes, which was the second best single-game clip in school history. He also completed 80.6 percent of his passes in a win over Navy in 2013
