2016 (Sr.): Ward suffered a season-ending knee injury at Alabama and received a redshirt to get the season back.
2015 (Jr.) | 14/14: Ward started all 14 games at strong safety for the Hilltoppers and not only starred on the gridiron but also in the classroom, picking up C-USA All-Academic Honors for his work. Ward tallied 57 tackles (37 solo) and a career-best 7.5 tackles for loss, including multiple TFL games against Louisiana Tech (2.0-11) and Middle Tennessee (2.5-21). Ward also had a pair of sacks on the year, solo sacks against Middle Tennessee and Southern Miss. Of his 57 tackles, 21 came on passing plays, fifth-most on the squad. The 57 tackles were also fifth-most among all WKU defenders. Ward earned C-USA Defensive Player of the Week honors following the Louisiana Tech game when he had a career-high 11 tackles (six solo) to go along with a pair of TFLs, a forced fumble, and two pass breakups. His forced fumble in the league championship game led to the go-ahead score in the third quarter. He also recorded a tackle in all 14 games, one of only five Hilltoppers to do so.
2014 (So.) | 13/12: Ward started 12 of 13 games for the Hilltoppers at safety and finished tied for third on the team in total tackles with 63 (41 solo). He added a pair of tackles for loss on the year, a solo TFL against UAB and half-TFL against Bowling Green and UTSA. Ward broke up a pass at LA Tech and had a career-high eight tackles against Old Dominion. Ward tallied at least three tackles in 12 of 13 games and multiple tackles in all 13 games, tallying a pair at FAU.
2013 (Fr.) | 7/3: Ward started from day one as a true freshman on The Hill, earning his first collegiate start in the season opener against Kentucky. He started the first three games of the season and saw action in seven games total, recording 13 tackles, one interception and one PBU. Ward tallied three or more tackles in the first three games with a career-best four against Kentucky. He intercepted his first collegiate pass against Morgan State.
HS/Misc.: Ward led Vestavia Hills High School in Birmingham, Ala., to the Alabama state playoffs in 2012 with 88 tackles, four pass breakups and a pair of forced fumbles in his final season. Ward earned First-Team All-South honors from the Birmingham News after the 2012 season.
