BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Come learn how to swim (or swim better) from the best on The Hill, as the Western Kentucky University swimming and diving team will be giving one-on-one lessons this fall.
Lessons run each Saturday in September (6, 13, 20 and 27) at Bill Powell Natatorium inside the Raymond B. Preston Health and Activities Center on WKU's campus. Lessons run for 30 minutes with the first one beginning at 8 a.m. and the last beginning at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $60 for one child, $110 for two children in an immediate family, $150 for three children in an immediate family and $200 for four children in an immediate family. For adults, it is $60 for one and $110 for a married couple.
To register or for more information, visit abcsportscamps.com/WKUSwimDive. Registration must be received by Monday, September 1 with payment included. Notification regarding class times will be made by email the Tuesday before classes begin, so please include a current email on the form. There will be no make-ups for missed lessons while preferred lesson times can be listed on the form.
The minimum age of participants is three years old while there is no maximum age. With one-on-one instruction from WKU swimmer and divers, participants will improve in the three critical factors of swim education: fun, safety and confidence.
Parents praise the swimming and diving instruction program and the college swimmers and divers who teach the children. Many have asked about "tipping" the teachers. The teachers are all NCAA student-athletes, so they cannot accept tips. However, for those would like to help out, add a little extra to your registration fee in the form of a "tip". The extra money will be used to feed the team at team gatherings throughout the year. Being a part of the registration fee makes it legal by NCAA standards for us to provide food for the teachers as a whole.
The money that the team earns by teaching lessons covers expenses including travel, swimsuits, equipment and the pool rental in order to have these lessons.
