AUSTIN, Texas - The Western Kentucky University swimming team earned its first All-American since 2011, as newcomer Fabian Schwingenschlogl finished in the top eight of the 100 breaststroke at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday night.
Schwingenschlogl went into the finals seeded fourth after finishing the prelims in a school-record time of 52.24. The Germany native then hit 52.25 in the night's finals to take eighth. Arizona's Kevin Cordes won the event with an American record of 50.04.

Schwingenschlogl isn't finished at the NCAA Championships, as he will compete in the 200 breast on Saturday. Prelims begin at 11 a.m. CT at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. It will be streamed on TexasSports.com.
