BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - WKU Soccer will host its second Friends of Jaclyn Foundation/WKU 7v7 Soccer Tournament on Saturday at the WKU Soccer Complex. The event will benefit The FOJ Foundation, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children battling pediatric brain tumors and raise awareness about the disease.
The 2014 WKU 7v7 Tournament participants will be Austin Peay, Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Lee, Lindsey Wilson and Tennessee-Martin. Games will begin at 9:30 a.m. (CT) and wrap up around 4 p.m.
During the 2012 season, WKU Soccer adopted Ellie Schueler as an honorary member of their team as part of the FOJ's Safe on the Sidelines Program. Schueler has remained with the team since her adoption in October 2012 and is a regular attendee of practices, games and team get-togethers off the field.
"Our student-athletes have been fortunate with so many opportunities in their lives, both on and off the field," said head coach Jason Neidell. "Ellie has been an absolute blessing to us the past two years. This weekend is a great chance to give back a little bit of what has been given to us. The tournament is a fun, competitive way for us, college students and the community to raise money and awareness for pediatric brain tumors. "
