BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Soccer junior Georgia Liapis has been named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South Region Team. Liapis earned second team honors, being one of 12 athletes named to the team.
Liapis is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in marketing and boasts a 3.90 GPA, the third-highest among members of the team.
The junior midfielder was the center of the second highest scoring offense in Conference USA (1.81 goals per game). Liapis led the team in goals (nine), shots (41), points (20), and shots on goal (20). She finished the regular season third in points, tied-second in goals, and was the only midfielder in the league in the top five in scoring. Her nine goals mark the seventh most in a single season in WKU Soccer history.
The Plainfield, Ill. native was named CUSA Midfielder of the Year and earned a spot on First Team All-CUSA. She also was named to the CUSA All-Academic Team and earned CSC All-District honors. Throughout the season, Liapis was twice tabbed as the CUSA Offensive Player of the Week and was named to TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week.
