WKU senior All-American candidate Alexis Govan sat down with her teammates and members of the Hilltopper Basketball team to discuss life off the court, life on the court and everything in between in a series of question-and-answer sessions.
Govan, who is interning with the WKU Athletic Communications/Media Relations department this semester, is returning to the court in 2014-15 after missing much of last season with a fractured tibia. As a sophomore, Govan was one of the most prolific scorers in the nation and will enter the 2014-15 season as the second leading active scorer in Conference USA behind teammate Chastity Gooch.
Today, Govan sits down with redshirt-junior Nigel Snipes:
Name three players you have to have on your dream team.
NS: Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal and Tracy McGrady (before the injuries).
What's your favorite thing about playing basketball?
NS: The competition, and the excitement you get from it.
If you had to choose a teammate to be stranded on an island with, who would it be and why?
NS: Rob Marberry. He knows all about fishing and is outdoorsy.
What's your first basketball memory?
NS: Playing at the YMCA with my coach named Coach J.
If you could win a gold medal in the Olympics in any sport, besides basketball, what would it be?
NS: Ping Pong.
What's the best advice you've received?
NS: Have no regrets, go all out.
What has been your proudest basketball moment?
NS: When I had 41 points and 19 rebounds in a game back in high school.
What has the experience as a Hilltopper been like for you?
NS: It's been fun. I have been a part of some great things and will always have a lot of memories.
What one word would you use to describe your game?
NS: Athletic.
