LOUISVILLE, Ky.— After starting the day in fifth place, the WKU men's swimming and diving team moved up to second, joining the women's team who is also in second after two days at the Louisville Invite.
After two days, the women's team has a total of 976 points while the men's team posted 730, as both teams trail host Louisville. The teams will look to finish strong when the competition concludes on Sunday, Nov. 23 with prelims at 9 a.m. CT and finals beginning approximately at 2:30 p.m. CT.
WKU had multiple scorers in Saturday's competition, including 14 Lady Toppers and 13 Hilltoppers in the top 10 of individual events. Seven of those swimmers also hit NCAA B-standard times in their respective events.
Highlighting the day is Claire Conlon and Nadine Laemmler tabbing first-place finishes. Conlon took the top spot in the 100 breast with a time of 1:01.86 while Laemmler finished the 100 back in 53.39, both B-cut times. Also making B-times in those events are Fabian Schwingenschlogl with a second-place time of 54.05 in the 100 breast and Allie Duff with a third-place finish in the 100 back.
Duff also tabbed another B-standard time in the 400 IM after placing third with a time of 4:16.81. Hannah Musser and Tyler Groneck also hit the NCAA times after H. Musser hit the wall for third in the 100 fly (54.30) and Groneck taking fourth in the same event (48.11).
Michelle Craddock added a second-place finish in the 200 free (1:48.49) while four Hilltoppers finished in the top 10 of both the 200 free and 100 breast. Russ Bryant led the WKU crew in the 200 free after taking seventh (1:40.11) while Connor Dwyer followed Schwingenschlogl in the 100 breast after notching fifth place (55.56).
The women's relay crews in the 200 medley and 800 free both took second while the men collected second-place points in the 200 medley and finished fourth in the 800 free relay.
Savannah Neddo scored points for WKU in the one-meter diving event, taking seventh with a score of 252.80.
