BOWLING GREEN, Ky.—The Western Kentucky University swimming and diving team kicked off its summer by giving back to the community.
Ten of the student-athletes along with assistant coaches Brian Thomas and Danielle Grobmyer travelled to Scottsville, Ky., last week to give blood at an American Red Cross Blood Drive hosted by the Center for Courageous Kids (CCK). The CCK is a not-for-profit corporation founded to respond to the expanding needs of therapeutic camps for children with chronic diseases in Kentucky, Tennessee and the surrounding states. The CCK is a world-class medical camping facility providing free and memorable camping experiences for children with life threatening diseases and disabilities.
The Hilltoppers and Lady Toppers enter offseason workouts and the upcoming season looking to build off the momentum of a 2012-13 campaign that produced 15 NCAA “B” qualifiers, 20 new program records and a Sun Belt Conference Championship for the women’s team.
