MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - One of the strongest offensive starts in program history was slowed Monday in a 1-0 loss at Minnesota, the first time the Lady Toppers have gone scoreless this season.
Minnesota's Katie Thyken found the goal in the 51st minute, slipping a ball past Nikki Hall for the game's only goal. Hall (Cincinnati, Ohio) and the WKU defense opposed 17 shots in the game, but allowed just one goal.
For the first time this season, WKU was held scoreless, bringing to an end a five-game scoring streak to start the season, the longest for a WKU team since a seven-game streak in 2010. The Lady Toppers' 11 goals in their first five games had been the most by a WKU team since 2008 and the second most in the last eight seasons.
All three of WKU's shots were shots on goal, including a final scoring chance in the 89th minute by Chrissy Tchoula (Noblesville, Ind.) that was saved by Minnesota keeper Cat Parkhill.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half, a first for both teams this season.

The game with Vanderbilt is the first of a four game home stretch that includes the Sun Belt Conference opener for the Lady Toppers on Sept. 21 against Arkansas State.
