RICHMOND, Ky. — The WKU women's golf team is in 11th place after one round of play at the EKU Lady Colonel Classic Friday in Richmond.
WKU's 332 has it four strokes behind Eastern Kentucky's white team and three shots ahead of Dayton in the 13-team field. Morehead State leads the way after carding a 309 on Friday.
All seven Lady Topper rounds were in the 80s on Friday. Amy O'Connell is tied for 26th with an 80, and Kristen Wilkinson, Danielle Baiunco and Kate Larimore all shot an 81, with Baiunco and Larimore competing as individuals.
April Butler is tied for 53rd with an 84, and Dawn Wientjes is tied for 65th after shooting an 87. Kelsey Burrell rounds out the Lady Toppers in the field with an 88 that has her tied for 67th.
Jenna Hague of Ball State is the high-placing individual after round one with a two-over par 74.
The second and final round of the tournament is on Saturday.
