BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The WKU women's golf team finished in ninth place at the South Alabama Women's Invitational in Mobile, Ala., wrapping up the spring's first tournament with a 15-stroke improvement from round one to round two.
WKU shot a 647 as a team over two rounds and finished 18 strokes behind eighth-place McNeese State. South Alabama took home the tournament title with a two-round score of 607.
Kristen Wilkinson finished tied for 14th after a 79 and a 75 gave her a 154 over two rounds. Dawn Wientjes followed a first-round 85 with a 79 on Tuesday and ended up tied for 47th. Kate Larimore and Danielle Baiunco tied for 52nd with 166s, and Kelsey Burrell shot an 82 and an 86 to end up in 56th place.
Lina Lagergren of ULM won the individual crown with a two-day total of 147.
The Lady Toppers are back in action on March 18 when they begin play at the Ocala Spring Invitational in Ocala, Fla., hosted by Morehead State.
