BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU women's golf head coach Ron Burchett announced Thursday the signing of Bowling Green native McKenzie Smith to play for the Lady Topper golf team beginning in the fall of 2012.
Smith will graduate from Bowling Green High School this spring. She is a two-time Pepsi Junior Golf Tour winner and has earned numerous academic honors, including being a member of the National Honor Society and a first-team Academic All-State award recipient.
“McKenzie is the definition of a student athlete," Burchett said. "She is an extremely driven, hard-working young lady both on the golf course and in the class room. While excelling in the classroom, McKenzie still finds the time to work hard on improving her golf game. The dedication and effort that McKenzie puts into everything she does is what drew me to adding her to our roster. I expect great things from McKenzie and feel very fortunate that she is a Lady Topper.”
The Lady Toppers open their 2012 spring campaign on Monday, February 27 at the South Alabama Women's Invitational in Mobile, Ala.
