NEW ORLEANS –Western Kentucky University diving team senior Caitlin Dean earned the Sun Belt Conference Diver of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Dean, from Grand Rapids, Mich., picked up a first and second-place finish over the weekend at the Sewanee Invitational Diving Meet in Sewanee, Tenn. She finished first in the 11-dive, three-meter event with a score of 434.10 while taking second out of seven divers in the 11-dive, one-meter evaluation with a score of 388.35.
So far this season, Dean has earned five top scores within three meets. Last year, Dean tallied nine top-4 finishes, including in two events at the SBC Championships, and will look to continue to top those marks this season.
It is the second time this season that Dean has earned the honor, as she was named Diver of the Week after her performance against Delta State to open the 2012-13 season. Along with Dean, Lady Topper sophomores Allie Duff and Hannah Runyon-Hass have been named Swimmer of the Week by the conference this season.
Dean along with the rest of the WKU swimming and diving team will host the Hilltopper Invite this week, as events begin on Thursday, November 15 at 10:30 a.m. in Bill Powell Natatorium and conclude on Saturday, November 17.
