BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Western Kentucky University freshman swimmer Seth Musser has been recognized by the Sun Belt Conference as the SBC Male Swimmer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Musser continued his strong start to 2012 as he helped the Hilltoppers to a 176-124 victory over Southern Illinois on Saturday afternoon with three individual wins. Musser picked up wins in the 100 back (49.12) and the 200 back (1:48.65) before closing out the meet with a win in the 200 IM (1:51.03). Both his time in the 200 back and 200 IM represented season-best times.
On the year, Musser has totaled nine event wins and on Saturday turned in his second-straight meet with at least two wins, including the 200 IM in his last two meets.
The honor is the second this season for Musser. A total of seven WKU swimmers and divers have been recognized eight times this season.
WKU now awaits the 2012 Swimming and Diving Championships in Rockwall, Texas, Feb. 22-25 at the Rockwall Aquatics Center of Excellence. Both the men's and women's teams finished runner-up at last year's event and will look to bring the championship back to Bowling Green.
