WAYNESVILLE, N.C. — A two-round score of 599 placed the WKU Lady Topper golf team 12th in a stacked field at the Great Smokies Women's Intercollegiate this weekend, hosted by Western Carolina University.
WKU's 23-over par performance was just two strokes removed from ninth place and trailed first-place Jacksonville State by 21. The Lady Toppers shot a 304 in the first round and followed that up with a 295 on the tournament's final day.
Kristen Wilkinson was the top-finishing Lady Topper, with scores of 75 and 72 placing her in a tie for 20th. JoAnna Smith followed two strokes behind and finished tied for 31st. Kelsey Burrell and Amy O'Connell shot a 151 and 152, respectively, and Jordan Magruder finished with a two-round score of 160.
The Lady Toppers are back in action on Monday, September 27, when they begin play in the ULM Fred Marx Classic in Monroe, La.
