BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Western Kentucky divers Kylie Ruiz and Vincent Rominger have been recognized by the Sun Belt Conference as the SBC Divers of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Ruiz led the Lady Topper diving team in a dual-meet win over the Purple Aces. Ruiz claimed third place on the 1-meter event with a score of 236.15. In the 3-meter competition, Ruiz's score of 276.55 was the top score of the event. Both marks represented season-high marks for the native of Oklahoma City, Okla.
Rominger placed first and qualified for NCAA Zone Diving with a mark of 323.85 on the 3-meter against Evansville on Saturday. This marks the first time that the Hilltopper has qualified for Zones. The Battle Creek, Mich., native finished the dual with a third-place finish on the 1-meter with a score of 279.95. Both marks represented season-high marks for Rominger.
The honor is the second consecutive for Rominger and first for Ruiz.
The WKU swimming diving team has completed its fall schedule and will return to action Jan. 15 against Indian River State College in Ft. Pierce, Fla.
