BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The WKU softball team (13-5, 3-0 SBC) will play at home for the first time this season when they host Austin Peay in a doubleheader on Wednesday night. WKU defeated Austin Peay 4-2 in the Buzz Classic in Atlanta, Ga. just two weeks ago. First pitch for game one is at 5 p.m. CST and the second game is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
The WKU softball team (13-5, 3-0 SBC) is set to compete in their first home game of the season after spending the last seven weeks on the road. The Lady Toppers enter the game after losing two straight and will look to rebound against Austin Peay. Although WKU’s bats have been quiet lately, the Lady Toppers are still batting .293 as a team with 147 hits and 88 runs.
WKU continues to dominate opponents at the plate with a better batting average than their opponents as well as more hits, runs, doubles, triples, homeruns and RBIs.
Heading into tonight’s doubleheader against Austin Peay, the Lady Toppers are led by junior Kelsey McCauley. In 17 games this season, McCauley is batting .360 and has racked up 18 hits and scored eight runs. She has also batted in ten runs and has two homeruns, one double and one triple.
