Bowling Green, Ky. — Western Kentucky University men’s golf coach Brian Tirpak announced Friday Neil Horsley has transferred from the University of Missouri-Kansas City to the Hill and will be eligible to begin play this spring.
Horsely — a Cooper City, Fla., native — finished twice in the top-5 at UMKC during the fall season averaging 74.4 for every 18 holes.
The 5’ 10’’ freshman — who is majoring in economics — won the high school state championship in 2005 for American Heritage. He lettered all four years of high school and was named most valuable player two of the four years. Horsely was honored as the 2005 Broward and Herald Player-of-the-Year after averaging 72 as a senior. He was the first Broward player in 30 years to win the individual state championship. His high school team finished second at the state tournament during his junior and senior campaigns.
The Hilltoppers will open their spring season when they host the Kauai Collegiate Cup in Priceville, Ha., March 14-15.
