On day one, Karl Swanson was the Hilltoppers’ top performer. Swimming in the preliminaries of the 500 freestyle during the afternoon session, Swanson was seventh in 4:36.72, improving his performance during the evening session’s final, as he placed sixth overall while lowering his time to 4:34.49.
Cassie Fahrlender broke into the top 10 in the preliminaries of the women’s 50 freestyle, finishing ninth in 24.11. She improved her time in the finals by one-hundredth of a second to place 11th.
Competition continues Friday with the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breatstroke and 100 backstroke.
