Freshman Jennifer Johnson led the way for the women's team with a pair of first-place finishes in the 200 Free (1:55.20) and the 200 Fly (2:08.78). Sophomore Rachel Buncher finished right behind Johnson in the 200 Free with a time of 1:56.83, then claimed a win in the 100 Free by swimming a 55.20. After taking second in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:41.37, sophomore Amber Miller picked up a win in the 500 Free by posting a time of 5:16.65. Juniors Alexis Rieck and Lori Ludwiczak rounded out WKU's first-place finishers, with Rieck capturing the 200 Back (2:09.91) and Ludwiczak taking the 200 Breast (2:25.85).
The Hilltoppers won just four of 13 events en route to the 13-point loss. WKU got things going in the first event as the relay team of Nick Bracco, Travano McPhee, Chad Waits and Matt Nalbone earned the top spot in the 400 Medley relay with a time of 3:29.61. Sophomore James Campbell grabbed first in the 1000 Free with a time of 9:52.34 and was followed directly by teammates Kevin Kleman (9:56.04) and Karl Swanson (9:56.14). Junior Paul Graves posted a win in the 400 Individual Medley (4:09.19), while Bracco tacked on a victory in the 200 Back (1:55.47).
Both squads return to action next weekend when they welcome Southern Illinois to the Preston Center Pool on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. (CST), in what will be the final home meet of the year.
