The Wildcats (2-0) were able to get on the board first in the 16th minute when Elizabeth Ramsey was able to beat Western goalkeeper Becky Kasper. Kentucky grabbed a 2-0 lead ten minutes later when Heather Saas found the back of the net.
Freshman Jenna Silverberg got Western on the board for the first time in the 2003 season in the 34th minute as her unassisted goal pulled the Lady Toppers within a goal. The Wildcats responded just five minutes later, however, when Kristin Moyer scored on a cross to give UK a 3-1 lead going into the half.
Kentucky ended the scoring in the 55th minute as Ashley Shillig's unassisted goal made it a 4-1 score. The Wildcat defense took over from there, allowing Western just three shots on goal for the match. Silverberg accounted for two of those shots, while Leslie Anderson also put a shot on goal.
Western will try for its first win of the season tomorrow when it hosts Lipscomb in a 7 p.m. (CDT) match at the WKU Soccer Field.
