Murray, Ky. - Senior Crystal Anglea fired an opening-round 78 today at the Lady Racer Classic to lead the way for the Lady Toppers, who sit 14 strokes back of tournament leader Murray State in sixth place after the first day's action. Anglea was the lone WKU golfer, and one of just four golfers in the entire field, to break 80 today at the Miller Golf Course in Murray, Ky.
The Hilltoppers carded a 352 on the first day led by Anglea's 78, placing her in fourth place heading into the final day. Junior Morgan Hannah followed Anglea's lead with an 89, earning her a share of 27th place. Host Murray State, which is fielding two separate squads, currently holds first and second in the nine-team field, as their two teams posted scores of 328 and 333, respectively.
Western Kentucky will look to make a move on the leader board tomorrow morning, March 11, when the second round begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Following the Lady Racer Classic, the Lady Toppers have a short layoff before returning to action March 23-25 at the Samford Lady Bulldog Intercollegiate.
