On the women's side, freshman Jennifer Johnson started things off for the Lady Toppers with a ninth-place showing in the 500 Free. Sophomore Meredith Mountjoy followed with a ninth-place showing of her own in the 200 Individual Medley (2:09.28). Keeping with the trend, freshman Samantha Sawzak claimed ninth in the 50 Free, coming in at 24.13. Junior diver Trisha Nailor followed up Kacsir's effort by placing fifth in the 1-meter dive (196.23).
Junior Nick Bracco followed up Swanson's first-place time in the 500 Free, by placing third in the 200 IM (1:54.20). Fellow Toppers Greg Strickler and Travano McPhee also earned top-10 finishes, placing sixth (1:55.04) and ninth (1:56.25), respectively. Senior Drew Aldridge followed by swimming a 21.00 in the 50 Free to claim fifth place. Junior Andy Ray closed out the day by taking fourth in the 1-meter dive with a score of 224.25.
Both team's return to action tomorrow for day two of the invitational and close out their stay in Maryland with Saturday's finals.
