Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky's Hilltopper golf team fired a 22-over 310 in the third and final round of the 54-hole Early Yestingsmeier Invitational at the Players Club in Yorktown, Indiana. Western's three-day total of 881 was good enough for a three-way tie with Bowling Green State and host Ball State.
The tournament, which was won by Austin Peay with a three-round score of 286-284-286=856, was completed Sunday. Eastern Kentucky was second with an 859, while Ohio was third at 864. Matt Gallant of Austin Peay was the individual medalist with a 69-70-70=209 (-7).
The Hilltopper's Jared Topmiller ( 69-72-77=218 (+1) and John Mullendore (72-70-76)=218 (+1) finished in a six way tie for 17th place.
