Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky women's soccer coach Jason Neidell has announced the addition of two walk-ons to his team's inaugural roster.
Bowling Green native Melissa Bailey will join the squad as goalkeeper after playing a season of basketball at Lindsey Wilson College. The 2000 graduate of Greenwood High School lettered in soccer her senior season, and was a three-time letterwinner in basketball where she was named all district and all region during her senior season.
Jennifer Klingenberg, a junior at WKU, has also earned a spot on the Lady Topper roster. The Florence, Ky. product is a 1999 graduate of Ryle High School where she was a four-time letterwinner and two-year starter as a midfielder and forward. She is the second member of her family to play college athletics. Her grandfather, Joseph Klingenberg, played baseball for Xavier University in Cincinnati.
Western opens exhibition play on Saturday (Aug. 18) against the Brentwood (Tenn.) U-17 boy's team at the Lover's Lane Soccer Complex in Bowling Green. Western's first regular season match will be Friday, Aug. 31 at Morehead State, with the home opener slated for Sunday, Sept. 2 at 2 p.m. against IUPU-Fort Wayne at the WKU Soccer Complex.
