Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky swimming coach Bill Powell has signed a third recruit to join the men's swim team next season.
Greg Strickler will join the Hilltoppers after a successful prep career at Dow High School in Midland, Mich. The three-time team MVP was a five-time state finalist in the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 200 freestyle, 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle. He was also named Saginaw Valley League MVP in 2000 and 2001, while also placing 11th in the 200 backstroke at the 2000 Junior Nationals.
Also successful in the classroom, Strickler was a high school academic All-American in 2001 and plans to pursue a degree in computer science, engineering or architecture while at Western.
Strickler joins Nick Bracco and Parker Sloan, both from the Kansas City area, as the newest Hilltoppers for the 2001-02 season.
