Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky swimming coach Bill Powell has signed two swimmers from the Kansas City area. Nick Bracco, a senior at Blue Valley North High School in Overland Park, Mo., and Parker Sloan of Shawnee Mission East High School will become Hilltoppers in the fall.
Bracco, a 6'7", 205-lb. individual medley swimmer, is a member of the four-time Blue Valley North state championship team. He is a three time first-team all-state performer and was state runner-up in the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly this past season.
Sloan, a sprinter, led Shawnee Mission East to an eighth-place finish at the state high school championships. He was the Sunflower Conference champion in the 50 freestyle in both his junior and senior year, breaking the league record in his senior season.
The Hilltoppers finished the 2001 season with a 12-2 duel meet record and a fifth-place finish at the 2001 National Independent Conference Championship.
