BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Tremain Rowles scored a career-high 18 points and came away with fvie steals to lead six Western Kentucky players in double figures in a 107-63 win over North Texas Saturday in the Sun Belt Conference.
Chris Marcus and Filip Videnov added 16 points (eaulling his career-high) each, Nashon McPherson scored 13, Raimonds Jumikis added 11 (a personal best) and Nate Williams scored 10 for the Hilltoppers (17-5, 10-1 SBC East).
Chris Davis scored 18 and Kenneth Mangrum added 14 for North Texas (4-17, 1-9 SBC West).
It was the first meeting ever between the two schools. North Texas joined the Sun Belt this season.
Western Kentucky's 107 points was its most in a game since 1994. And, the Toppers have now scored 100-plus points twice, marking the first time WKU has reached that plateau two times in one season in eight years.
The Hilltoppers shot a season-best 58 percent (40-of-69), including 50 percent from 3-point range (11-of-22). Coupled with their 12-22 shooting from long range in Thursday's wim at Middle Tennesse, the Toppers have now cashed in on 23-44 (52.3%) from beyond the arc in the last two games.
North Texas led 4-3 before Western Kentucky mounted a 15-0 run. North Texas got no closer than 11 the rest of the game. The Hilltoppers' long lead was 46 (107-61) with 1:26 to play.
And, Western scored 35 points off 22 North Texas turnovers. Nearly half (53) of WKU's points came off the Toppper bench.
The Hilltoppers take a week off before resuming action in the Sun Belt next Saturday night at Louisiana Tech.
