Evansville, Ind. - Both Western Kentucky men's and women's swimming teams rebounded from losses last weekend at Southern Illinois to defeat Evansville on Saturday.
The Lady Toppers improved to 12-1 on the season pulling out a 123-122 over the Purple Aces. Brandi Beckwith-Carey (Jr., Lexington, Ky.) collected wins in both the 200 backstroke (2:05.13) and 200 Individual Medley (2:05.11). Michelle Lynch (Sr., The Colony, Texas) won both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.
In the men's meet, the Hilltoppers also improved to 12-1 with a 125-105 win. David Tucker (Jr. Decatur, Ala.) won the 50 freestyle (20.64) and 100 freestyle (45.93). Dean Cheek (Fr., Honrchurch, England) also won two events, capturing the 1000 freestyle (9:48.49) and 500 freesytle (4:47.67).
The men will host one more dual meet this Saturday against Georgia Tech at 1 p.m. (CST). The women will take a week off to prepare for the first Sun Belt Conference Championship, Feb. 16-18, in Little Rock, Ark.
