Les Forsythe joined the WKU Athletic Department in August 2005 and was named Senior Associate Athletic Director for Capital Projects, Facilities and Event Management in 2021.
In his role, Forsythe oversees all athletic facilities, capital construction projects, game/event management for football, the strength and conditioning and equipment departments, and the execution of external contracts including Coke, Aramark and Nike. He also serves as Licensing Director for the department and as the sport administrator for women’s soccer.
Recently, Forsythe has overseen construction of the Soccer/Softball Facility, replacement of Feix Field, installation of videoboards at Nick Denes Field and the WKU Softball Complex, construction of the new WKU Football press box and the Hilltopper Fieldhouse project, in addition to many other smaller-scale capital projects.
Forsythe previously served as Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities, a role in which he had oversight of the day-to-day operations for all the WKU athletic facilities, as well as capital construction and renovations to the WKU athletic facilities, including the Paul Oberson Clubhouse, the replacement of synthetic turf to Feix Field, the addition of synthetic turf at Nick Denes Field, and the video board and sound upgrades to Houchens-Smith Stadium and Diddle Arena. He was responsible for the scheduling of all events in Diddle Arena and served as the game manager for WKU Men’s Basketball and Volleyball.
Forsythe began his career at WKU by serving as the Coordinator of Athletic Facilities. Throughout his career, he has been the game manager for WKU Baseball and Women’s Basketball, and he has also served as tournament manager for various championships hosted by the NCAA, Conference USA, Sun Belt Conference, and the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.
An Owensboro, Ky., native, Forsythe graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College with a degree in Sports Administration in 2005. As a student-athlete, he lettered four years in football while at KWC, and was named an Academic All-American in 2002. He then earned a master’s degree in Recreation and Sport Administration from Western Kentucky University in 2007. He also has earned certification with the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety & Security (NCS4).
Les, and his wife Stacey, have a daughter, Addison, and a son, Thaxton.
