2024: (r-Jr.) | 7/7: Helms started the first seven games of the season at tight end before being sidelined due to injury. He finished the season with 228 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 19 receptions. His touchdowns came in WKU's Sept. 14 win at Middle Tennessee and in the Oct. 16 win at Sam Houston. Helms had a season-high 72 yards on four receptions at Boston College on Sept. 28. He was recognized after the season as a Phil Steele Postseason CUSA All-Conference Second Team Offense selection, after the publication named him a Preseason CUSA All-Conference Fourth Team Offense pick and Athlon Sports named him a Preseason All-CUSA Third Team Offense honoree prior to the season.
2023 (r-So.) | 12/9: Helms appeared in 12 of WKU's 13 games during the 2023 season with nine starts at tight end. He caught 22 passes for 289 yards and three touchdowns on the year. Helms had a season-high 76 receiving yards against Liberty on Oct. 24, and posted a season-high five catches against Old Dominion in WKU's 38-35 overtime victory in the Famous Toastery Bowl on Dec. 18.
2022 (r-Fr.) | 13/0: Helms appeared in 13 of WKU's 14 games on the season, mostly in a special teams role. Helms' efforts helped the Hilltoppers go 9-5 for the year, including a 44-23 victory at season's end over South Alabama in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.
2021 (Fr.) | 1/0: Helms played in one game during his first season on The Hill, the team's season-opening win over UT Martin. He will count 2021 as a redshirt season.
HS/Misc.: Helms played for head coach Shelby Davis at West Limestone HS. According to MaxPreps, had 42 receptions for 561 yards and eight touchdowns in his final two seasons of varsity ball. Rated as a three-star prospect with an 87.3 composite grade by 247Sports, and the 26th overall tight end in the nation and 20th overall player from the state of Alabama. Chose WKU over offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Florida State, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Pitt, Coastal Carolina and others.
