2019 (r-Sr.) | 13/13: Jackson capped his Hilltopper career with one of the best receiving seasons in program history, cementing his name in the WKU record books while leading the team with 94 receptions and 1,133 yards. He came on strong in the second half of the year, with 69 receptions for 870 yards and four touchdowns in the final seven games after tallying only 25 catches for 263 yards and zero touchdowns in the first six contests. Jackson's 94 receptions ranked eighth in FBS and second in all-time WKU program history for a single season. With 16 catches at Marshall, he broke the Hilltoppers' 50-year single-game record dating back to 1969, then in the First Responder Bowl against Western Michigan, he broke that mark again with 17 grabs – tying for fifth-most in all-time bowl game history – to earn MVP honors. For the 2019 season, only Jackson and East Carolina's Tyler Snead had two games of at least 16 receptions, while the rest of the nation had zero. His 1,133 yards ranked 23rd in FBS and fourth in all-time WKU program history for a single season. Jackson had five games of 100-plus receiving yards, including a career-high 194 vs. Florida Atlantic, which tied for the fourth-most in a single game in Hilltopper program history. Jackson also showed his versatility by adding an eight-yard touchdown pass to Ty Storey on a trick play vs. Charlotte. For his career, his 209 catches stand second all-time and 2,680 yards are third, while his nine 100-yard receiving games are tied for second. Jackson represented the Hilltoppers as a team captain for the season-opener vs. Central Arkansas.
2018 (r-Jr.) | 12/11: Jackson started 11 contests and appeared in 12 games as a redshirt junior, the third straight season he has reached at least the dozen-game mark. He had a career-high 50 receptions and four touchdowns to go along with 552 yards, both of which led the Hilltoppers in 2018. Jackson tallied multiple receptions and 20-plus yards in each contest, including a career-high eight catches on Sept. 22 at Ball State and a career-high two scores on Sept. 8 vs. Maine; he also had a season-high 115 yards against the Black Bears. Jackson also added an 18-yard touchdown rush on Nov. 24 at Louisiana Tech and an 11-yard rush the previous week on Nov. 17 vs. UTEP. His 115 career receptions stand eight short of WKU’s top 10 all-time, while his 1,547 career yards are 319 shy of the program’s top 10 as well.
2017 (r-So.) | 12/6: Jackson had another impressive season on The Hill, as he racked up 39 receptions for 600 yards and three touchdowns. He ranked second for WKU with 15.4 yards per catch, while his 600 yards receiving put him at third-most. He led the Hilltoppers with three 100-yard games and 10 receptions of 20-plus yards, three of which going for touchdowns. He started his campaign with a bang, catching five passes for a career-high 144 yards, including and a 66-yard touchdown in the second quarter of the season-opener vs. Eastern Kentucky. He also added 135 yards receiving on Nov. 4 at Vanderbilt and 109 through the air on Nov. 17 vs. Middle Tennessee. His 93-yard score in the fourth quarter against the Blue Raiders tied for the third-longest catch in WKU history and was 1-of-8 pass plays of 90-plus yards in FBS. He had at least three receptions in seven games, including a career-high seven on Sept. 23 vs. Ball State and against the Commodores.
2016 (r-Fr.) | 14/6: Jackson emerged as one of WKU’s future stars at wide receiver as a redshirt freshman, contributing behind veterans Taywan Taylor, Nicholas Norris and Nacarius Fant. He tallied 395 yards on 26 catches to go along with two touchdowns on the year. His 395 yards were fourth-most on the team while his 15.2 yards per catch average was third-best. Jackson caught WKU’s lone touchdown from Drew Eckels in the fourth quarter at Alabama, a 24-yard score, and added a 54-yard touchdown reception at FAU. He also added two rushes for 14 yards and a 20 yard kickoff return. Jackson had a season-high five catches against FIU and a season-high in yardage with 83 at FAU where he tallied the 54-yard score. He had multiple receptions in eight of his 14 appearances including the final seven as he came on strong at the end of the season.
2015 (Fr.): Jackson redshirted his first season on The Hill.
HS/Misc.: Dontavian “Lucky” Jackson prepped at Lafayette High School in Lexington for coach Eric Shaw, helping the team to a 9-4 overall record and Courier-Journal All-State First Team and Associated Press All-State Second Team honors as a wide receiver. Jackson was also named the District 8 Player of the Year and participated in the Best of the Bluegrass All-Star game. During his senior season, Jackson tallied 49 receptions for 1,018 yards and 14 touchdowns. Jackson was rated the No. 20 prospect in Kentucky by 247Sports.com and was named to the Lexington Herald-Leader’s Class of the Commonwealth team.
