2016 (Jr.) | 14/6: Johnson took over as WKU’s primary nickelback as a junior, seeing action in all 14 games and starting six, including his first career start at Miami (Ohio). Johnson responded to the new workload with 45 tackles (32 solo) to go along with two tackles for loss (both in the Boca Raton Bowl) as well as a pair of interceptions against Vanderbilt (returned for 10 yards) and FIU (returned 61 yards for a touchdown). Johnson added eight pass breakups including three at Miami in his first start. Johnson set a career-high for tackles at Middle Tennessee with nine (seven solo) and had three or more tackles in seven games, including eight at Louisiana Tech and six in the bowl game.
2015 (So.) | 12/0: Johnson tallied 16 tackles (12 solo) including a season-high four - also matching his career bests - at Rice and at North Texas. Johnson saw action in 12 games and did not appear at Vanderbilt or Indiana. Primarily contributing as a nickelback and special teams gunner, Johnson tallied four kickoff return tackles.
2014 (Fr.) | 11/0: Johnson appeared as a special teams ace and reserve safety/nickelback, tallying 20 tackles (15 solo) with one tackle for loss and one pass breakup. He recorded his first career tackle for loss at LA Tech and racked up a career-high four tackles vs. UAB.
HS/Misc.: Johnson led Miami Northwestern to a 9-3 season in 2012, leading a secondary that did its part in allowing only 12 points per game on the year. Johnson and the Bulls defense held seven of their 12 opponents to single-digit scoring outputs in 2012, which included a pair of shutouts. Johnson was mentioned in a listing of the top cornerbacks in the state of Florida by 247Sports.com following a senior season in which he recorded 50 total tackles, with five interceptions and 12 pass break-ups.
