He started the year strong with a season-high nine tackles in a win over Austin Peay, then provided one of the highlights in his career the following week at Hawaii when he scored on a 38-yard pick six. It was the first interception and defensive touchdown of his career. Later in the year, Jones also recovered a fumble in a big win over UAB that came down to the final plays of the game. His two forced turnovers helped WKU's defense lead the nation in forced turnovers. In addition to his big contributions on the field, Jones continued to have a stellar career in the classroom. For the third time, Jones was named a CoSIDA Academic All-American at season's end after being named Academic All-District earlier in the year.
